Do you do bike fits for people like me?

Do you do bike fits for people like me?You don’t need to be a certain type of rider to have a bike fit, anybody can benefit. Questions I’m often asked when people give me a call to discuss having a bike fit are “I’m not a professional and I’m not racing, I just want to ride sociably with friends, is it still worth me having a bike fit, do you do them for my type of riding?” I also hear “I’m not an athlete and my flexibility is poor, is it worth me having a bike fit?” “I’m riding an electric bike do you do bike fits for those?”

Everyone Welcome

Everybody is welcome for a bike fit at Fit My Bike, there isn’t one type of rider that we exclusively fit or prefer to fit. Ideally, you’ll be of a cheerful disposition and want a bike fit because you enjoy riding your bike and are looking for a bit of help and advice with setting up your position. It could be for comfort, injury prevention or performance improvements. I respond well to happy, fun people and go the extra distance to help them.

Aim

My aim is to look at every type of rider and make them comfortable and efficient so that they can cycle to the best of their ability and be in control of their bike. Apart from making my living as a bike fitter, the reward of my job is meeting interesting people and getting feedback that they enjoyed the bike fitting session and have benefitted from the work we did. The positive reviews that I receive are the icing on the cake.

Hundred’s of Bike Fits

Do you do bike fits for people like me? Female CyclistDuring my time as a bike fitter, I’ve fitted hundred’s of adult cyclists of all shapes and sizes, ranging between 36Kg and 149Kg weight and 149cm to 195cm in height. I have bought a step stool to help measure the really tall ones. I’ve learnt that if you ask a man how tall he is generally, he’ll mostly overstate his size and if you ask a woman, she’ll usually be spot on or a little shorter.

Biggest Difference

I think the biggest height difference was a chap who thought he was 3 inches taller than he actually was, we established that the difference was linked to the size of ego 😉, the Napoleon complex is alive and well. On a serious point, people do use their assumed heights to purchase bikes which can sometimes make all the difference between the bike fitting the rider or it not. It’s best to double check or come for the bike fit first which is my preferred option.

Fitting Professionals

I’ve also had the pleasure of fitting Professional Rugby and Football players and a couple of Olympians (Swimming and Triathlon) including a gold medal winner at Paris. I’m also pleased to say that they’ve come back for further fits which is a real compliment. I’ve fitted road racers and particularly find it satisfying helping aspiring youngsters as their careers take off and they get sponsorships or get picked up by Continental teams.

People Just Like You and Me

Do you do bike fits for people like me? It has to be said though, that the majority of the bike fits I have performed have been for people like me and you. People that enjoy riding their bike. I’ve fitted people competitively entering local races, triathlons and time trials both veterans and first timers. As well as, people that ride for pleasure with clubs such as their local Breeze group. People that are training for and planning a lifetime adventure such as the Great Divide or the King Alfred’s Way. People that are tackling their first century ride or Land End to John o’Groats (LEJOG) and raising money for charity. If they ride bicycles, they’re all OK by me. I’m sure that I can help you too.
